Born on July 28, 1954 in Rogów. Authority in the field of science and research apparatus, as well as vacuum technologies. In 1974 he has graduated from the Mechanical Technical School in Racibórz “MECHANIK”. Five years later, in 1979, he graduated in Automatics and Metrology at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow. At the same time, he also completed a pedagogical study at the AGH University of Science and Technology. In 1996 he obtained a PhD in technical sciences in the field of automation and robotics. Today he is an honorary “Ambassador of the AGH Brand”.
He started his professional career at the Anna mine in Pszów. After 5 months he left abroad. He started his career path in a top hi-tech company in Germany, where he went through many career levels, starting from the basics up to the person who was responsible for the most difficult and innovative projects on a global scale. Thanks to his brand developed in this way, he was recruited to the University of Heidelberg, where he took the position of technical head and research worker. Here, in addition to the construction or modernization of institutes, their equipment and commissioning, he mainly acted scientifically in the segment of creating new measurement and research techniques in the field of nanotechnology.
He was a bridge between science and technology. He cooperated with many top scientists from around the world, including Nobel Prize winners. He gained an international reputation thanks to his knowledge and achievements. Thanks to his knowledge he has designed extreme devices that have always led to success in various research groups as well as in his own research. With time, requests began to flow to him to build individual scientific and research equipment for various Institutes around the world.
The first was the ETH (Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule) apparatus in Zurich (CH), the second for PSI (Paul Scherrer Institut) in Villigen (CH), the third for CNRS Mulhouse (F), the fourth for the University of Brussels (B), the fifth for Max-Planck-Institute in Düsseldorf (D), and so on. Then the number of orders was so large that in 1996 Mr. Glenz founded his own PREVAC company in his hometown of Rogów, which is currently one of the world leaders in the production of vacuum scientific and research equipment.
Dr Andreas Glenz is a man who can combine the world of science and business. He is a visionary, an activist, a man of action, deeply involved in social issues as well as ecology. Fate of young people and thus the subject of education reform, mainly vocational, is close to his heart. He is a very valued manager who has many titles and honors in his portfolio, including: “Silver Badge of Honor” of the Silesian Regional Assembly, the title of “Man of the Year 2014” in the categories “Business” and “Internauts Award” in the plebiscite of tuwodzislaw.pl, the title of “Manager of the Year” awarded by the Association of Managers in Silesia, title “Friend of Wodzisław’s Education”. Dr Glenz is also a laureate of “Gorzycka Perła 2016”. He obtained the “Medal of the 70th anniversary of the Foundry Institute in Kraków”. In 2016, he was nominated for the Jan Wejchert Polish Business Council Award, Polish Business Oscar and in 2016 and 2017 for the Economic Award of the President of the Republic of Poland. In a plebiscite organized by Dziennik Zachodni, dr. Glenz received the title of “Manager of the Year 2016 of the Silesian Voivodeship”.
On a daily basis, dr. Glenz is also an active member of the “Steering Committee of the Regional Innovation Strategy” at the Marshal’s Office, member of the Program and Business Council of the Institute of Materials Science of the University of Silesia, as well as of the Social and Program Council of the Institute of Physics – Scientific and Didactic Center of the Silesian University of Technology. His knowledge and experience are highly valued by decision-makers not only at the local or national level, but also at international level.
