Graduate of the Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice (1982) and doctoral studies at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology (1987). Habilitation at the Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw (1998). He has received the title of professor in October 2007.

Gained his professional experience in Poland and abroad, including in the Czech Republic, Great Britain, USA. The most important areas of his research interests and lectures are bionics, digital processing of biomedical signals, computer-aided medical diagnostics, artificial organs, biotechnology, bioinformatics.

Since 1999, he has lectured on doctoral studies in the field of bionics, artificial organs, genetic and tissue engineering. He also conducts laboratory classes with X-ray equipment, numerical methods, probability and statistics, computer programming, bioinformatics.

He is a member of many scientific organizations in Poland and abroad, including IEEE (Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineering); ESAO (European Society of Artificial Organs); Polish Cardiac Society (PTK); ECS (European Cardiac Society); EMBS (Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society); Polish Society for Biomedical Engineering; Electronics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Silesian Branch); Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Electrotechnics.

Professor Ewaryst Tkacz is the organizer of numerous international congresses and scientific symposia. He is the author of over 140 scientific publications and laureate of many awards and prizes. He is the promoter of 12 completed doctoral theses. One of the doctoral students was awarded the postdoctoral degree last year (2017).

He likes music and photography. He goes skiing, plays volleyball and tennis, likes swimming.
